Background
For these projects we are constantly scouting for vulnerable schools, centers, clinics across villages in Nepal which need renovation and beautification. We organise our creative volunteers to “save” the building with their beautification or renovation skills. The project is available full year round and upon renovation, we seek for another building that needs our help, thus projects never repeat. For bigger groups and teams we also have construction project opportunities where you can help us build toilets for girls, classrooms, shelters, playgrounds, libraries, temples and more.
Challenge
Through our construction project volunteers help us give life to such buildings in Kathmandu which are either neglected or used but in drastic conditions. Enthusiastic groups can also join us in rural village programs where there is a high need of a support task-force.
SBB Intervention
STEP Beyond Borders believes that the constructions are the key to the overall social welfare of the society. The buildings where all these services are provided: schools, hospitals, nurseries, gardens, parks, toilets, temples and many other infrastructures are part of our target of the project. With this project we are sure to bring happiness and hope to the young generation in Nepalese communities as each volunteer can contribute with their bright thoughts and ideas to be implemented. If you want to see a tangible change of your work and test your creative spark then this project is for you. THE SKY’S THE LIMIT.
Main tasks of the volunteers:
We would be happy to hear and find ways to implement your ideas!
Best for groups, family members, couples, school students
In Kathmandu our team will allocate you with a host family that lives not far from your project. Host families are carefully chosen safe accommodation option to ensure cultural immersion as the volunteers can see the local customs and traditions, share food together and see the neighborhood with their hosts. Hosts are generally an extended family but you can come across nuclear families two, so based on the available number of bedrooms, our teammates decide how many participants can stay in one host family. Breakfast and dinner are included in the program and it is home-made local food while lunch can be easily arranged by the volunteers from nearby the project areas. It’s safe and also affordable and this way volunteers have freedom of choosing what they like once a day.
